CRAB — a VSN product

Commerce execution assurance · Shopify

Can AI agents buy from your Shopify store?

Only an inspection of your own store can answer it. Shopify provides the platform, but the journey an agentic buyer actually has to complete runs through your theme, your product and variant setup, your apps and your checkout configuration. Agent-readiness at platform level does not establish that a specific merchant journey preserves the exact product identity, the intended variant, price, availability, cart state and checkout outcome.

What CRAB tests on Shopify

CRAB does not claim that Shopify is broken, and it publishes no Shopify-wide failure rate. It reports what it could and could not confirm on the store it inspected.

The nine commerce stages

CRAB follows the buying journey itself and reports each stage as READY, PARTIAL, BLOCKED or INDETERMINATE. Findings are deterministic and tied to captured evidence.

No synthetic score. CRAB does not issue a 0–100 readiness score: a critical commerce failure cannot be averaged away by unrelated passing checks.

Independent verification. CRAB does not implement or remediate what it inspects. You implement; CRAB verifies.

Agent-ready is not commerce-ready

A Shopify store can expose structured data, feeds, agent protocols and machine-readable interfaces and still fail when the exact product is purchased. Protocol support does not prove a correct commercial outcome. CRAB verifies the outcome.

Getting something into the cart is not success. Getting the right product into the cart is. CRAB does not treat a sibling SKU, a wrong size, a wrong colour or a wrong edition as a successful buying journey.

The safety boundary

No purchase completedCRAB stops at ordinary checkout and never confirms an order.
No payment submittedCRAB never provides or submits payment credentials.
Authorised inspection onlyCRAB inspects a store only once authority to request the inspection has been established. No admin credentials are needed.
